文化地理学是论述相对于自然而言的各种文化现象的地理规律的科学。其中包括政治、宗教、民族、种族、人口、城市、农业、工业和交通的起源、景观、扩散分布及生态等方面的论述。内容涉及国家的起源与职能；宗教的产生与传播；民族和种族的习俗；民间文化与流行文化的特点；工、农业的区位；交通的作用与发展；城市的产生与职能；商业网点的布局；人口的理论与动向，人们居住地的选择。本书的内容翔实可取，观点新颖，结构比较完整，阐述问题具体、深刻，并广泛联系我国实际。既是一本系统科技论著，又可作教材使用。王恩涌，著名文化地理专家，北京大学环境学院教授，地理学科教学指导委员会副主任，《人文地理》杂志副主编。王恩涌教授1953年毕业于清华大学地质地理系自然地理专业，毕业后留系。从53年-83年在系主要从事教学科研的组织和管理工作，曾担任系秘书、助理、副系主任。
